    It is quite true, nothing is impossible in the world that we are living in today. Things that seemed impossible and unachievable in the past have now been brought to our doorsteps by brilliant people. May it be space travel, underwater excavations, robotics or the electronic technology of smart devices; everything is attainable and has been attained. And now another concept which was seemingly impossible in the past has been achieved by the scientific means of nanotechnology: Self-cleaning clothe that involves fabric is a finely woven material used in textile industry found to display varied functions meant for fashion to protection. Durability of fabrics is one of the most important features. Ideal high quality fabric is considered to be resistant to moisture, stains, finger marks and dust. As mentioned, this is an example of an ideal fabric which is almost impossible to inbuilt all the qualities towards meeting customer needs. Advances made in the area of nanotechnology paved the way for high definition clothes. This article summarises fabric’s connect with ancient practices the basic nature and properties, their plausible origin, manufacturing strategies, applications and their impact on environment and human health.

☑ Mathematical Modelling of insitu-Bioremediation of Crude Oil Polluted Soil

    A bioremediation model was developed for the bioremediation of a crude oil polluted soil. The developed mathematical model considers a batch process. The model was designed to predict the quantity of crude oil remaining per time in crude oil contaminated areas during in-situ bioremediation. The model can be used to monitor the progress of soil bioremediation by monitoring crude oil residual concentration per time. Comparing the results of the simulations of the derived model to the results of an existing model, shows that the new model is valid and reliable for monitoring the progress of any batch bioremediation process of crude oil polluted soils.

☑ Degeneracy Based Tunable Wavelength of Quantum Dot Laser

    We have tried to model the effect of degeneracy on the tunability of wavelength in quantum dots lasers (QDLs). Quantum dots undergo 3D confinement. We obtain the energy values from the Energy of a particle in a box model. The transitions taking place between the energy levels led to emission of radiation having a wide range of wavelengths. The quantum dot size was found to have tunable effect on the wavelength of the emitted radiation.

☑ Effects of Zinc Oxide on Polyacrylic Acid: A Core-Shell Nanoparticles

    Polymeric core-shell nanocomposites, which are hybrid of polymer and modified inorganic clay with organic surfactants, are extremely attractive in both science and industries. The Acrylic acid coated ZnO particles were successfully synthesized by a two-step chemical method, which were prepared by the polymerization of ZnO nanoparticles and followed by coating of acrylic acid nanolayer. The synthesized Zinc Oxide/Polyacrylic acid (ZnO/PAA) core-shell nanoparticles, consist of zinc oxide as the core and polyacrylic acid as the shell. The SEM study reveals that the ZnO/PAA nanoparticles with average diameters of ~40 nm. The UV-Visible spectroscopy indicates that the core-shell ZnO/PAA nanoparticles reduces the absorbance and act as a good photoabsorber.

    Research based learning may be considered as group of activities which develop the skills in a learner towards a systematic exploration of a topic, its impact on individuals or society or organization, problems and challenges faced during this quest, finding ways towards resolution of the problem, the benefits of the piece of work done (in the form documents, models, formula, hypothesis etc.), presentation of his findings and suggestions for the furtherance of the work to be carried out by him or others. The understanding of the students doing B.Arch. regarding the significance and impact of research based subjects increased from B. Arch. 1st year to B.Arch. 5th year. The ability of the students doing B.Arch. regarding to overcome the challenges in the research based subjects increased from B. Arch. 1st year to B.Arch. 5th year. The findings revealed that students often involved in the research topics that didn't match their interest and thus they are to be motivated by additional beyond class hours counseling for the novelty and significance of their work. It seems that more teacher taught interaction in discussing the research based subjects is needed.
